My name is Eleanor

I use she/her pronouns

Eleanor, a white woman with freckles and blue-gray eyes, lies in the grass smiling up at the camera. She has on a blue-gray scarf that matches her eyes, and a gray jacket. Her left hand rests on her chest, with henna on her forefinger and thumb.

My interests are deep and intersectional. I love my work, which I started in 2014 after graduating from the two year East-West program at CenterPoint Massage & Shiatsu School & Clinic.

I have fibromyalgia and IBS, and am queer and neurodivergent. My fibro may be partially to blame as to why I do massage - massage has been so helpful for my pain levels since I was a child, and it has given me a deeper understanding of pain in general, to the benefit of my clients.

My other work, hobbies, and passions have a great deal in common with massage. Here is a (hardly exhaustive) list of my other activities...

  • I am an Associate Instructor at a local stage combat school, Art In Arms. I am also a perennial performer in a local "sports entertainment" show called Human Combat Chess. I choreograph fights (or violent moments) for theater, and am working towards becoming a teacher in my own right.

  • I have been learning from the incomparable professionals at Intimacy Directors & Coordinators. IDC is a teaching and certifying body that has spearheaded the movement towards standardizing safe approaches to staged or filmed intimacy. Their work in how to approach layers of boundaries and consent regarding the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of performing intimacy from a perspective of joy, confidence, collaboration, and curiosity - rather than anxiety - has been particularly influential in my approach to bodywork.

  • I teach dance on two different Morris (traditional English folk dance) sides - one in the summer and one in the fall. I am also on another side that performs in winter. I have at various times done over a dozen different forms of folk and social dance, and have grown up as a part of the Twin Cities folk singing community as well.

  • I am a "Ren-rat", meaning I grew up at Renaissance festivals. I have worked at a handful of different Ren faires around the country as various street characters, and still perform in Minnesota in the autumn.

  • I used to teach comprehensive sex-ed to adults online, and it is still a thing I nerd out about.

  • I used to do (some) acro-balance before stage combat took over my life, and I would love to do more with it in the future, if my body allows.

  • I love sailing with my father when I get the opportunity.

  • I love to do chores or errands while listening to audiobooks, podcasts, and YouTube videos about topics ranging from Dungeons & Dragons, to anti-racism, to history, to scientific exploration.
